Volunteers Australia
Conservation
Volunteers Australia (CVA) is an Australia wide organization that welcomes
everyone with a love of the outdoors and an interest in the environment.
CVA’s
mission is “to attract and manage a force of volunteers in practical
conservation projects for the betterment of the Australian Environment.”
CVA
was founded in 1982 as the Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers. Through
it’s Better Earth program CVA coordinates and manages teams of volunteers to
assist labour intensive community based conservation projects across Australia.
CVA aims to assist Landcare groups, Catchment groups, Park Care groups, National
Parks and Reserves, farmers, councils and anyone who manages land by providing
teams of volunteers to carry out on-ground works. These works include
Bush regeneration, fencing, tree
planting, wetland, revitalisation, walking track construction, flora and fauna
surveys, weed removal and heritage conservation.
The Canberra office services the Canberra
and South East NSW region. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds
and locations, and you don't need any prior skills or experience. We have
volunteer opportunities to suit your availability and interest (see the CVA website
for more details at
www.conservationvolunteers.com.au or contact the Canberra office on 6247
7770 or
canberra@conservationvolunteers.com.au). CVA is also a Registered Training Organisation and
delivers a Work for the Dole Program for 35 – 65 year olds. These programs are
conservation projects and run for 6 months for two days per week.
