The 2007/08 ACT Landcare Awards winners were announced on Friday 7th September at a celebration breakfast at Regatta Point. According to Landcare Australia CEO, Mr Brian Scarsbrick, the Awards breakfast was a great success and commemoration of the incredible achievements of landcare in the ACT. “The Landcare Awards are a great chance for ACT’S landcare community to reward the volunteers and the community effort that goes into protecting our precious natural resources,” Mr Scarsbrick said. “For every winner announced, there are hundreds of others in landcare making incredible inroads into solving some of the nation’s land and water degradation issues. “It’s always valuable for the individuals and groups that make up ACT landcare, to come together and see first hand what their peers have achieved. It is inspiring to see what can be accomplished with hard work and determination,” Mr Scarsbrick said. Over 80 guests attended the Awards, including MLA Mick Gentleman, with Master of Ceremonies being conducted by Sarina Locke, ABC’s 666 regional and rural reporter.
