The Molonglo Catchment Group Inc.
The Molonglo Catchment Group
is one of three community-based catchment group organisations in the ACT. Whilst
all three cross over the NSW border, the Molonglo Catchment is largely in NSW.
The Molonglo Catchment Group is an umbrella group for the many Landcare and
other natural resource management (NRM) interest groups in the Molonglo
catchment.
The key function of the
catchment group is to coordinate NRM activities through the development and
implementation of a catchment strategy and provide strategic support to NRM
groups to develop projects and receive and administer grants.
The Molonglo Catchment Group
was incorporated in October 2003 and embarked on a 'whole of catchment'
planning process. The Molonglo Catchment Strategy (MCS), 2004-2024 is available
for viewing online or download by from the
MCG website. The MCS prepares
the catchment community for engagement with the Australian Government's Natural
Heritage Trust (NHT) and National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality
(NAP) programs, which require a regional approach to project delivery.
Following the publication of
the MCS, implementation of the Strategy is now being rolled out with funding
through the Australian Government's National Landcare Program. For information,
please contact the MCG
Coordinator.
